Townhouse Creative approached Letchworth Arts Centre with regards to our new beacon based technology we have been developing. We were introduced to artist Christina Bryant who had run several exhibitions based on her work called Forgotten Landscapes. Christina's work involved undertaking archaeological digs around the area and documenting everything that was found. From here Christina would generate her artwork.

Innovation

All the supporting information for each piece of artwork, including original photographs, map co-ordinates of where the object was found, text, video and audio was loaded into our proximity platform. Each piece of artwork was assigned to a beacon, which was placed next to the artwork. An App was developed which when in proximity of a beacon would then display the relevant information about that particular piece of work.

Exhibition

The exhibition opened in June 2014 and ran for a month. Users could download the App and explore the exhibition and when they found the artwork,k further information about that piece was pushed directly to their phone. We were able to add a 'digital layer' of information to each piece of artwork rather than the small place cards normally used.
